History
The Arizona Diamondbacks are one of the youngest teams in the league, just like the Colorado Rockies. The Diamondbacks were established in 1998 and were immediately a part of the National League West Division, where they have called home ever since. They have been playing at the same ballpack since they were founded and this ballpark is Chase Field located in Phoenix, Arizona.
Unlike other franchises, they did not waste any time when they got started in the league with losing seasons for quite a while. In fact they won the World Series in 2001, only three years after they became a part of the league, and they had no easy road to get there. They defeated the New York Yankees for the title, during some of the Yankees prime years with players like Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter. This makes the Arizona Diamondbacks the fastest expansion team in Major League history to win the World Series.
Despite them being a younger team, they still have three players that have come through the franchise and made it to the Hall of Fame. These players include the famous Roberto Alomar, who really only played the last years of his career with the team. Alan Trammell who was more famously a Detroit Tigers player, but lastly the tried and true Randy Johnson who was a Diamondback all the way. Randy Johnson is arguably the best player to come through the franchise and certainly the best pitcher that the team has ever seen. Besides his hair, and the famous clip of him hitting a bird mid pitch, he had many outstanding seasons and statistics to back up his fame. Luis Gonzalez is also another famous Diamondback, but he has yet to enter the Hall of Fame. Unfortunately it does not seem like the Diamondbacks will be adding to their team’s history anytime soon.
